The Run for the Roses

One of a kind fascinator made for a beautiful client to wear at Kentucky Derby, on its 150th edition. “The run for the roses” made of silk abaca, crinoline and the horseshoe - is covered in real gold leaf, using a technique used by the icon painters. I also created 5 matching silk abaca roses to adorn her outfit. As you can see she had the perfect look on that day and for sure she got all the roses for her outfit choices!

Tudor Rose

This beautiful headpiece was made for Miss Earth England 2023, the beautiful Jordan Smith. Since there’s no traditional English hat, nor an English national costume, we decided to create a silk abaca rose which will resemble the famous Tudor Rose.

Constantin 'Bebe' Cotimanis

Black felt fedora with silk band and brown felt fedora with a crocodile leather band. The “wild” look is completed by a real shark tooth on the side of the leather band.

Andrea Sturdza

The hat is made of black sinamay edged by black crinoline and it’s decorated with large silk roses.

Ozana Barabancea's Golden sheaves

What other halo would represent better the Romanian symbols than a halo made of red and blue silk abaca and the yellow being made of real wheat sheaves. It was made for one of the best Romanian singers to wear on the exceptional concert on the occasion of Romanian National Day.

Arty - Cristian Dragomirescu

A flamboyant hat made for a friend who’s not just a priest and an icon painter, but a renowned portraitist. Bespoke pork pie felt hat, with a crocodile leather strap.

Cowgirl Jackie

A cowgirl hat with a chic twist: the crown shaped decoration is made of peacock and goose feathers surrounded by a thin strip of leather.

Margaret

A perfect matching sinamay hat for the sweetest British lady. She looked amazing on her grandson’s wedding day. Of course, her elegant look couldn’t have been perfect without her classy old fashion style of caring herself and her warm smile.

What

Full bespoke service is offered by us for your every special event and occasion, like race day, christenings, special anniversaries and, of course, weddings.

Our couture consultation service includes:

  • First consultation free
  • Colour matching
  • Sizing and 
  • Fitting

Note that to ensure you have a hat in time for Ascot or your special event, I advise that you plan ahead and get in touch early to avoid disappointment.

How

You are welcome to our couture millinery studio where we offer an initial 45-60 minutes long consultation completely FREE. This initial couture consultation session should give us time to discuss your very specific needs and get know you.

We encourage our customers to indulge themselves whilst at our couture millinery studio to try on different styles of hats.

We will discuss, your taste, size, hairstyle for the planned event/day, and more importantly the matching of colors and fabrics involved - thus we encourage our customer to bring swatches of fabrics or the actual outfit or photos of the bouquet if you are the bride to be, accessories et cetera. We take great pleasure in understanding the over all picture of the event or requirements.

Please note:

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required, when the final design is agreed on, and then we will begin working on your hat.Progress updates will be provided with pictures throughout and you may be requested on our studio to make adjustments and again when the finished hat's pictures are shared. We will then ship the hat upon your approval and payment of balance and shipping costs.
  • Once a design has been agreed upon, we will not entertain any new changes to the originally agreed design (which includes all aspects and components of the hat)

Each hat at Maria Carmen Millinery is handmade, this dedicated process takes between 2 to 7 weeks, depending on the complexity of the design, materials and fabrics involved and their availability.
