Caring for your hat

Felt hats

Making sure your hat remains clean and in good condition is essential to enjoying the ownership of any hat. Here are some tips - your hats will thank you for it.
Hat Brush
Ideally hat brush made with horsehair bristles will be the best tool to use on any of your felt or wool hats. Make sure that you use lighter colored bristles for a hat of a lighter shade, and vice versa. Dislodge any dirt using simple and gentle strokes. To remove those stubborn particles, it is essential to move in a counter-clockwise direction.
Alternatively, those of us who cannot find or afford horsehair hat brush, you can use the overcoat brushes or a mildly damp cloth. If there is fuzz, lint, or even pet hair then a lint roller will do absolutely fine. Some people have also used simple tape.
Tackling Stains- use a soft rubber-based sponge to rub away the stains.
Perfect Storage – maintenance will be determined by how your store your hats; it plays a key role in its longevity. Use common sense approach, for example, never store a hat on its brim, nor on its crown (upside down); you will damage its shape. Never stack your hats one upon another. Store your hats in a dedicated box free of any move-able and hats objects. Do not store it in direct sunlight. Avoid humid places and add Camphor tablets to protect the hats from Moths, who would love nothing but to nibble way your favourite hat.
If in doubt, always take your hat to a professional.

These hats can be gently brushed using a feather brush or soft microfiber dusting brush.
Of course, you want to store it again in a clean and separate box; making sure it has no direct sunlight or humidity. Do not forget-Water will ruin you sinamay and straw hats completely!
